Firelight, machinery, music, and coyotes: a personal series from a period when Intend to Relate’s Instagram was becoming a creative playground.
By October 17, Intend to Relate’s Instagram had passed the 1,000-follower mark and gained a channel. Alongside the developing body of work, Z’jip was experimenting with ways to invite authentic, direct connection.
This series brought viewers into an evening at the ranch: a fire, a Buddha statue, pasture work, music, and the sounds of animals in the dark.
Around the fire, then into the pasture
The first video begins with Z’jip talking beside a fire. He introduces a Buddha statue and takes a swig of whisky. Later, the footage takes viewers along on the tractor, brush-hogging the pasture at night with electronic music playing.
The setting becomes part of the presentation: conversation and reflection alongside the ordinary work of tending a place.
Firelight in slow motion
A second video slows things down: the fire and Buddha statue, accompanied by “Boo” by Headband.
Fire, stillness, movement, and music become the material of a short visual composition. This footage would later acquire another place within the project’s imagery. There is more about that connection in the members’ section below.
Coyotes and an impromptu recording
While recording portions of To Him outdoors, Z’jip heard and recorded coyotes—their loud howls and rough, overlapping calls entering the evening.
The primal conditions helped inspire the impromptu recording. The surroundings were participating in the creative process, giving the conversation sounds, atmosphere, and something immediate to respond to.
Eyes in the darkness
The series also included an artistic reworking of footage in which a deer’s eyes catch the light while the animal remains largely hidden in the darkness. Paired with a Shaboozey track, the image becomes another small experiment in how music changes an encounter with a scene.
A moment in the transition
This personal series marks part of the movement away from the very formal, programmatic presentation that characterized September and the first part of October.
The foundational work continued. Instagram was opening into a wider space for personal footage, music, atmosphere, humor, and visual experimentation.
At this point, Z’jip was still experimenting with engagement and hoping to encounter individual people through the platform. He was also learning more about the structure through which those encounters were being attempted—questions becoming part of Volume Three: To Them.
These posts preserve a moment within that process: an evening at the ranch, shared while the project was learning what sharing through this medium could mean.
